Paper Tigers [Tigres De Papier] est une collection d’œuvres ornementales, processuelles, contextuelles, archivées sous forme de notices et dont la matrice est la feuille de papier de format A4 colorée. Chaque motif est conçu à l’économie de moyens et à échelle humaine. À partir de la feuille-module et d’un principe de pliage et de collage simple, chaque contributeur est invité à produire une œuvre graphique ou typographique qui interagit avec la ville. Chaque notice décrit une œuvre qui peut être réalisée à distance par un tiers, en suivant les instructions et en l’absence de l’auteur. L’activation de la notice investit soit la façade aveugle d’un logement collectif — en tant qu’élément architectural archétypal —, soit les murs d’un espace d’exposition — le White Cube étant en quelque sorte le pendant de la façade aveugle.

Chaque présentation de la collection donne lieu à l’activation de notices existantes. L’activation d’une notice se fait en accord avec la Licence Art Libre et dans le respect du droit de propriété intellectuelle. L’activation peut être réalisée à titre gracieux avec le consentement de l’auteur ou donner lieu à une rémunération forfaitaire selon le contexte. Chaque contributeur est conscient que l’activation sauvage, gratuite, publique ou privée par un tiers demeure possible, et que son œuvre est soumise aux aléas de l’espace urbain ou de la programmation de l’espace d’exposition.

Paper Tigers is a collection of ornemental, processual or contextual artworks recorded in a form of instructions sheets (Fig. 1} and based on the use of coloured A4 paper. By using sheets of paper as modules and simple principle of folding and collage, each contributor is invited to produce a graphical or typographical artwork with an economy of means and on a human scale that interacts with the city.
Each instructions sheet describes an artwork that can be produced remotely by a third party, by following the instructions and in the absence of its author. The activation of the instructions is meant to invest either the blind facade of a collective housing — understood as an archetypal architectural element — or the walls of an exhibition space — where the White Cube could be in a way the equivalent of the blind facade.

Each presentation of the collection is the opportunity for in the activation of existing instructions sheets. The activation of an instructions sheet is done in agreement with the Creative Commons BY-SA License and in the respect of the right of intellectual property. Activation can be done graciously with the consent of the author or be payed by a flat rate depending on the context.
Each contributor is aware that the free, public or private activation by a third party remains possible, and that his artwork might be subject to the vagaries of the urban space or the programming of the exhibition space.
